With the MagicRed Spielothek I am testing a provider with a somewhat eventful, albeit short, history. Originally launched in 2014, it was gone again two years later. What exactly led to this cannot be clearly researched, but that does not apply to the new beginning. This has been accomplished under new ownership and is backed by the most prominent regulators. In the following I give you everything you need to know about the most important key data of the provider. This gives you a detailed overview of the range of games, the betting limits, payout rates, the company behind the provider and security.

However, this does not fully describe a game library. That's why I dedicated separate tests to bonus offers and payments, mobile app and terms and conditions to give a complete picture of the provider.

The range of games at a glance

The heart of a casino is definitely the selection of games. In the next three points you will get a detailed insight into what MagicRed has to offer. I'll focus on the slot machines in particular. It has already been anticipated that one relies on the top manufacturers in the industry. Customer service and the mobile offer are also briefly touched upon.

The range of games in numbers

The number of slots in this game library is rather small at 250. Especially compared to the competition, who usually offer twice the number of available machines and often exceed 1,000. For this, the selection is excellent. This is how you rely on top implementations from the best providers. Among them are greats like NetEnt, who hold many rights to bands, films and series. Guns 'N Roses, for example, inspires with original titles and concert excerpts. NextGen Gaming's Renegades convinces with great features such as the mega blocks, which split into one symbol on several reels and thus enable big wins. Quickfire's Game of Thrones impresses with the original soundtrack and very successful features that leave decisions to the player. The low number of slots can probably be explained by the fact that an attempt was made to put together a very high quality offer instead of offering a bloated and confusing selection based entirely on quantity.
The selection of classic slot machines is even more limited than that of video slots. They can all be tried out in a free demo version (only with a player account). Even if what is available is good, the provider still has room for improvement here.

Die mobile App

A browser-based web app from the provider also allows playing on the go. Most of the games offered are optimized for mobile use and offer a great experience wherever the player is. I dealt with the topic in detail in my separate MagicRed mobile review.

The betting limits at a glance

As usual, slot betting options vary greatly by title. This depends on the game-specific settings, but also on the number of paylines played. There are many slots with a minimum bet of €0.01 per payline, others start at €0.10, €0.20 or €0.50. A maximum of €1 per spin can currently be wagered. The machines offer all budgets enough room to develop.

The payout rates of the provider

The payout rates at MagicRed are good and can definitely keep up with the competition. The values differ from game to game. The classic slots have a range of 93.50 to 97.40%, with the video slots the values are between 91.75 to 97.10%.

As already anticipated, the payout rates at MagicRed are in the upper midfield compared to the competition. There are other providers who have significantly lower values. On the whole, however, the values usually differ only in nuances.

Die MagicRed Software

The MagicRed homepage is provided by Aspire Global. The company offers operators complete packages for their offer, which includes not only games but also services such as payment processing, support and security systems. The company was founded in 2005 and holds licenses in Malta and the UK. In the meantime, more than 150 employees are employed. Aspire Global's portfolio includes well-known game developers such as Quickfire, Quickspin, Barcrest, NetEnt, Blueprint, SG Interactive and Evolution Gaming.
The provider's website is available in English, German, Swedish and Finnish. For my taste, it makes a slightly overloaded impression overall. The lower third of the screen is filled with tiles with the logos of various slots. The last winners are listed in real time on the right edge and the upper third is a kind of slide show that presents the various promotions. Quite a lot is already in motion without any action on your part. There are several navigation bars on the screen for this purpose. At the top edge you can switch between the areas, but you can also register or log in or go to the live chat. Directly below you have the sections Games, Promotions, Loyalty Program and FAQ. You can then switch between the slide show of the actions and the tiles of the slot logos within the game categories.

The personal area is pleasantly clear and simply designed. A window gives you an overview of your real money and bonus balance. It will also show you how far along you are with the turnover requirements. Below you can request deposits and withdrawals, view your reward points or upload proof of identity. In the middle of the window you can access your bonuses, new promotions, and the history of your transactions and games played. To the right you can change your settings and set personal deposit limits. As strange as I found the design of the homepage, I liked the personal area, in which I felt very well looked after.

The company behind the provider

The company behind MagicRed is called Exit 42 Limited and is based in Gibraltar. It is a new company that does not operate any other casinos or divisions apart from MagicRed. Based in Gibraltar it holds a Remote Gambling License created by the Gambling Act 2005 and issued by the Gibraltar Gambling Commissioner.

The customer service

My experience with customer service is very good. He can be reached on various channels. You can reach him seven days a week between 8 a.m. and 1 a.m. by phone, live chat or email. Really positive is that there is a German phone number. There are many other providers who can only be contacted on a few channels or only in English. In addition, they have put together an FAQ that tries to answer the most common questions, so that you don't even have to contact customer service. When testing, I didn't have to wait long to get help. The employees were always friendly and tried to answer my questions completely. Overall, my verdict on customer service is consistently positive. The only small point of criticism would be that the support is not available 24/7. But that's also complaining on a very high level.

Security and Licenses

As previously described, MagicRed gaming is provided by Aspire Global. Based in Malta, this company is licensed and regulated by the local regulator, the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA). The company is therefore subject to EU law. Obtaining such a license requires compliance with very strict standards, which are also regularly checked. This also includes protecting the sessions of the players accordingly. The most modern SSL encryption, such as Sha256, 128-bit encryption and TLS1.2 is used for this. The payout rates are performed by an independent company, iTech Labs, one of the most prominent organizations in this field. Safe and fair gaming is thus guaranteed.

Another important issue in terms of player safety is the prevention of gambling addiction. Here you work with well-known and proven organizations such as GamCare and Gamblers Anonymous. You can access the respective websites easily and clearly via your personal area. You also have the option of restricting yourself. This can take the form of self-determinable deposit limits that can be set on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. In addition, there are session limits and a reality check that suggests a break and tells how long the game has been played.

Yield at the bonus points

At the awards, the admittedly still very young operator goes almost empty-handed. So far, no awards have been won, but they work together with already awarded game manufacturers such as NetEnt. Overall, the range of promotions is poor. In addition to a welcome bonus, there is also a Last Man Standing mode. A loyalty program is offered, but there are no additional offers.

There is certainly still a lot of room for development in terms of bonus points. Especially compared to the competition, you are poorly positioned here. If you take a weekly action, one or two seasonal ones and maybe a tournament mode, the added value for the provider would definitely be greater. The DrückGlück makes it significantly better in the points listed here. But what is not, can still become.

Conclusion: new provider with development potential

My final verdict on the provider is mixed. I definitely liked the selection of slot machines. We really paid attention to quality here, so it doesn't really matter that the selection is small compared to the competition. Another plus is the payout rates, which are good. In terms of security and player protection, the provider meets all requirements. The customer service can be described as particularly good. He is available almost 24/7 and in German, nice and competent.

Significant Strengths

  • German customer service
  • Good slot offer
  • Beginner-friendly limits

Minor strengths

  • Almost all slots available on mobile
  • good demo mode

Significant Weaknesses

  • Few promotions

Minor weaknesses

  • Confusing design

The betting limits, which do not manage to pick up different types of players and therefore hardly allow any flexibility, are not very convincing. Take a look at Cashi Mashi, here you will find much more flexible limits. One of the most serious points, however, is the design of the homepage. This is confusing and has several navigation bars, the meaning of which is not entirely clear to me. For example, a search function that sorts titles by manufacturer would be nice. Dunder is a provider that does the points discussed here better.
